Acting: Language and Literacy Development

In the creative area of “Acting” figure-based storytelling is a regular activity used to support early language and literacy development, for example with the story of the “Two Little Owls.” The little adventure story has a simple structure, includes many repetitions, and is supported by the educators using hand puppets, figures, or simple materials.

Training Days: Creativity and Dance and Movement

During the training days this year, our educators danced and got lots of new inspiration. The workshops by YoTaMe, Movedanta, and Dock11 offered many creative ideas for our daily routine. We are confident that the ideas will be enjoyable for the children as they were for us.

Going to the Ice Cream Café – An Exciting Excursion

At the beginning of May, a very special excursion was planned: the preschool children visited an ice cream café together. With this we practiced traffic safety, restaurant etiquette, and ordering independently. And as a topping, we eaten yummy ice cream.

Destination Playground: Excursion with the U3-area-children

Regular excursions and learning in different settings open new spaces for experiences for the children. During excursions, they actively experience their environment and learn how to orient themselves within a group. Even the way becomes a place of learning: walking together, stopping, observing, and moving on.

The children experience the Vocabulary Cinema as a special highlight. The atmosphere helps them to concentrate and engage with the content. With movements, repetitions, and simple prompts, they are actively involved and can react directly. The children get confidence, participate with increasing self-assurance, and experience themselves as part of the community.

Planting season in spring: First experiences with nature

The planting season in spring is one focus of our educational activities, inviting all children to wonder and explore nature. They discover playfully how tiny seeds transform into something living. The planting season offers them the opportunity to experience nature with all their senses.

Discovering Colors – A Color Project in the Under-3s Area

The children in the under-3s area experience and learn about colors as part of the color project with creative activities, songs, movement and discovery in the daily routine. With the combination of language support in the morning circle and active engagement in participation in creative activities, the children were able to experience colors with all their senses.

Discovering the world with your hands

Children learn about the world by discovering everything with their hands. They grasp, touch, feel, and experiment – and so, they are getting important experiences that supports their development. They need a wide range of activities that allow them to use their fine motor skills. Painting and cutting offer wonderful opportunities in the daily routine.

Going to school! – First insights into school life

The children of the “Mice” group visited the dreieins Elementary School several times as part of a cooperation project and took part in lessons with class 1a. They learned letters, first math tasks, and got to know school life. The trial lessons were very enjoyable for the children and supported their excitement for starting school in the summer.

Multi-step learning activity

With a multi-step learning activity, the children explored the topic of “plants and growth.” So they had practical experience and developed a basic understanding of growth processes. Multi-step tasks and procedural sequences are activities composed of several subtasks and require a structured approach. These are important and fundamental basis for starting school.
