Learning Opportunities – Excursions
In the under-3 area, we approach learning to be exploration and closely connected to daily routine. Regular excursions and learning in new environments open new spaces for experiences that children can explore with curiosity and all their senses. Even the way becomes a place of learning: walking together, stopping, observing, and moving on. In this way, the foundational basics of traffic safety education are conveyed in a holistic manner. During an excursion, the children actively experience their surroundings and learn how to orient themselves within a group setting.
Motor Skills and Movement
Being out and about together during excursions supports social interaction within the group. The children engage with one another, orient themselves towards the educators , and experience a strong sense of community. This becomes more established as the children navigate new situations together. Excursions reveal valuable developmental strides: the children try out new physical activities – climbing, balancing, and sliding. So that supports their gross motor skills in many different ways. Often, they become more confident in new surroundings and playfully expand their abilities.
Supporting Independence and Skills
Excursions support children in exploring their environment independently. They gather new impressions, expand their vocabulary, and develop an initial understanding of rules in public spaces. This process is enriching because the children learn actively and autonomously. At the same time, it supports their independence: they experience themselves as capable, learn to overcome challenges, and gain confidence. Excursions in the under-3 area are an important part of early childhood education and of our educational institution. They enable learning in a variety of ways and combine movement, social experiences, and environmental awareness – right from the very beginning.
